Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi to unveil 11 new rides including UAE’s tallest slide
New attractions boost capacity and variety for all age groups
ABU DHABI – Yas Waterworld on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi is set to enter a new phase of growth, with a major expansion opening to visitors on April 4, 2026.
The development, announced by Miral, introduces a fresh line-up of attractions designed to broaden the park’s appeal and capacity. With this addition, the total number of experiences within the park will exceed 70.
The expansion forms part of the park’s ongoing ‘Lost City’ theming, building on its established narrative, The Legend of the Lost Pearl. The new phase introduces eight slides, two jumping platforms and a leisure pool, adding both high-adrenaline and family-friendly options to the existing offering.
New thrills
Among the standout features is Matamir’s Drop, now the tallest waterslide in the UAE. Rising over 40 metres, the attraction delivers a near-vertical plunge followed by a 233-metre slide run, combining height with speed. Another addition, Sahel Matamir, offers a competitive tube racing experience, propelling riders through bursts of acceleration and moments of weightlessness.
The expansion also includes Matamir Loop, a high-speed body slide designed for rapid descents, and Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights, which combines sharp drops with immersive lighting effects. For visitors seeking competitive fun, Matamir Splash introduces a duelling mat racer, allowing participants to race side-by-side towards the finish.
Family spaces
Beyond thrill rides, the expansion places emphasis on relaxation and shared experiences. Sarab, a new leisure pool, provides a spacious setting for families to unwind, while Al Afda introduces a jumping platform designed for guests seeking a more adventurous plunge into the water.
These additions aim to create a balanced mix of experiences, catering to both thrill-seekers and those looking for more relaxed activities within the park environment.
Tourism push
The project marks another milestone for Miral as it continues to expand Yas Island’s entertainment portfolio. The new attractions are positioned to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s standing as a global leisure destination, with Yas Island remaining central to the emirate’s tourism strategy.
Once operational, the enhanced waterpark is expected to attract a wider range of visitors, offering a diverse selection of rides and experiences that blend storytelling, innovation and large-scale entertainment.
